Therefore, differences in moisture level from one bread to another can result in varying toasting times. For slightly dry bread, use a lower setting than you normally would. For very fresh bread or whole wheat bread, use a higher setting than normal. Breads with very uneven surfaces (such as English muffins) will require a higher toast setting. Thickly cut pieces of bread (including bagels) will take longer to toast, sometimes significantly longer, since more moisture must be evaporated from the bread before toasting can occur. Very thick pieces may require two cycles. Cleaning and Maintenance Always allow the toaster to cool completely before cleaning. Do not use abrasive cleansers. Simply wipe the exterior with a clean damp cloth and dry thoroughly. Apply any cleansing agent to a cloth, not to the toaster, before cleaning. To remove crumbs, slide out the crumb tray and discard crumbs. Wipe clean and replace. Never operate the toaster without the crumb tray in place. To remove any pieces of bread remaining in the toaster, turn the toaster upside down and gently shake. Never insert any hard or sharp instruments into the slot, as this could damage the toaster and cause a safety hazard. Never wrap the cord around the outside of the toaster. Use the cord storage cleats on the underside of the toaster. Product Dimensions The Cuisinart 2-Slice Metal Classic Toaster measures approximately 10.75″ x 7.13″ x 7.13″. A great, stylish toaster. Very happy with it thus far!
Ignoring that it is so darn cool looking, turns out this is a great toaster that is consistent and easy to operate. I find it functional, easy to clean, reliable and wide slots are perfect for bagels or thick sliced sourdough. It might not be for everyone but I love its Metallic red color. In summary, good from the inside, good from the outside!

Kick ass toaster–and it does much more than toast it turns out/
So far no complaints. Had this thing for a few months now.It looks really great on the counter and it toasts very well. I like the bottom button on either row; it is a toast cancel/release button. If you get impatient or worry that your toast is burning you just push the button on either side of the toaster and it cancels the heat and pops up the toast. The settings are pretty high on this thing. I have never had to go past 3.5 (of 6 settings). There is a defrost and reheat button, as well as a bagel one. You can literally pop your bread or bagel from the freezer and defrost it in the toaster. This is one high-tech toaster disguised as a 1950’s dream kitchen machine. The workmanship is 4 of 5 stars. It is nowhere near as solid as a 1930’s toaster, but then what is? The sides and front are metal, the handles and buttons and dials plastic, but it is well made and it works. I have no complaint on this. I just wanted a red toaster, but instead I got something that does a lot more. The only way they could improve this would be to make it convert to a toaster oven somehow.

The Retro Look Is A Reminder Of Years Past
Trying to find a 4-Slice Toaster that wasn’t real large or expensive with a design you like wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be…especially when I also looked at what Consumer Reports had to say. What we had to do was replace our Cuisinart CPT-440 Touch to Toast Leverless 4-Slice Toaster that was barely over 2 years old because one side just stopped working altogether so you can imagine why I might be a bit hesitant to buy another Cuisinart. However, I read what people had to say about this particular toaster and decided to take another chance. So far, things seems to be working okay. Unlike the one it replace, toasting seems to be pretty even but like every other toaster we’ve had, you have to be aware of what you are toasting to try and figure what setting to make so you don’t under- or over-toast things. The slots are wide enough for bagels and it has setting specific to cooking bagels and frozen pastries.

Beautiful and stylish
This toaster is quite lightweight and cheap. It works great and has many settings. Controls move easily.

So happy with this toaster!
Our beloved Hamilton Beach toaster, which was probably about 15 years old, was on it’s way out. We liked it because it didn’t dry the toast out all the way through, but left the middle tender. Thanks to some prior reviews, especially the one who mentioned the toast didn’t come out “like a plank” and the attractive design, I decided to give this a try, and I’m happy I did. We are getting the same quality of toast, and I love the “keep warm” and “defrost” settings. Now I can keep my favorite artisanal bread in the freezer without issue. The first few times we used it, the browning was far from even, even on one side. Mysteriously enough, the taste was consistent, and tasted properly browned on both sides. Now it does brown both sides evenly, so there appears to be a “breaking in” time, but the quality does not suffer.

You’d think I’d learn….
We just went through a nightmare with a Cuisinart coffee maker. But when it came time to replace our old toaster – it was a Cuisinart and we’d had it nearly 20 years… so I bought this one. When it arrived today, I was happy to take it out of the box…and then I got a good look at it. It looks nice but as soon as you touch the dials, you realize its not alright.. they free spin! The right-side handle went down /with/ the wheat bread I placed in the slots. I only had to nudge it to get it to lock down with the setting on ‘3’. The left side refused to go down. It kept coming back up. I finally managed to get it to stay down with the turn dial set to ‘1’. Couple minutes later, weird popping noises were coming from the right side. The left side popped back up to reveal. . . somewhat warmed bread. The right side popped up to reveal … ahem…somewhat warm bread.Hmmm so…maybe I did something wrong (on a toaster…) I set the right side dial to 4, put two slices of bread in and waited. Again the odd popping noises started… this time when the bread shot out of the toaster, it was black on one side and somewhat toasted on the other.Never in my life have I wanted to cry over the death of our 19+ year old toaster… it will be missed because if this thing is what Cuisinart is building now.. *sigh*It arrived to fanfare and is not being booed back out of the house. Its cheaply made, doesn’t toast correctly and sounds like it is having a mini-fireworks display inside. We’re sending this toaster back NOW.

Classic style and even toasting
I love the look of this toaster on the counter. It has a real ‘vintage’ look. It has options for defrost, bagels, and reheat. The dial selector for darkness adds to the classic vintage look and feels nice when turning.Oh yeah, It also toasts very evenly.

It’s a beautiful expensive looking toaster
My 4 yo same model died. Used every day just about and finally the handles wouldn’t go down anymore. Just received today in red wich is beautiful! A great counter accent color! However, theres a small ding and paint chipped at ding on the front which I’m not happy about but need it for a family gathering in the morning so no time to exchange it! Took a few days to get, packaged well so not sure how the ding happened. Other then the ding I would of given 5 stars.

A very small problem for me is the dark ,lite settings! They don’t stay put, They are very easily moved out of range you have to be careful! A minor problem!!

Bought this to update the look of some small appliances, looks sharp but ends there, action on the lever seems like it’s put together cheaply, toasts very uneven, and timers aren’t even, have them on the same setting and they are about 45 seconds off each other which if you are a toaster is the difference of shades of Micheal Jackson for Thriller and his Bad album. Will just hold onto my old toaster for the inevitable.

I can never find a toaster that works properly I had our old one for a couple of years but it never worked so we decided to buy what I thought was good quality because of the price, I was wrong again its better than what i had before but you still need to turn the bread over so it will toast on both sides.

Overall, I like this. It looks good, it toasts bread nicely. However, the dials and levers feels cheap (almost like they’re going to break at any point). It would be nice if the lift lever went a little higher; if you have a small piece of bread in be prepared to use the lever to catapult the bread out.
