    FAST, EASY AND PERFECT TEXTURE
I really like the Starbuck’s egg bites, particularly because of the unique spongy texture, which is achieved through this cooking style using water. I read through dozens of the reviews on here and decided to buy this, and I was certain to incorporate some of the recommended adjustments from other reviewers. The unit just arrived today and I made two batches immediately. I am still in the experimentation phase with the salt level, spices and what other ingredients I want to add to the egg bites (meat, veggies, etc.). But I can say ~ with absolutely certainty ~ that the “texture” is 100% spot on with Starbuck’s version, with the ratio of the CORE ingredients that I’ve used both times (see below). I will detail the unit shortly, but first I wanted to show the ratio of CORE ingredients that I used for these 2 batches. NOTE: I did not spray anything in the silicone cups and the egg bites fell right onto the plate.I blended all of these ingredients together in my Ninja smoothie maker:-Cottage cheese: 4 Tablespoons-Whole eggs: 4 (use 7 if only egg whites)-Meunster cheese: 1/3 cups finely shredded-Half and half: 1 Tablespoon-Cornstarch: 1/2 TablespoonIf you are wondering why I added cornstarch, it is because it binds proteins together and absorbs moisture, which prevents egg dishes from being watery. If I were planning to incorporate a variety veggies into the egg bites, then I would increase it to 1 whole Tablespoon. For the first batch, I finely minced and sauteed red pepper to equal about 1/3 cup cooked red pepper. The 1/2 Tablespoon of cornstarch was adequate for only one veggie. NOTE: It is important to always saute’ veggies first so they loose excess moisture!I filled the silicone cups 3/4 full (using just under a 1/4 measuring cup) and cooked for exactly 12 minutes. They were perfectly done. However, during the last 1.5 minutes of cooking time, they did ‘puff up,’ which caused the lid on the unit to rise just a little bit and the the tops of the egg whites got just a little browned. This is not a big deal to me. The egg bites ended up sinking back to size after a minute or two of cooling.SIZE OF UNIT: It is not a large, cumbersome unit at all. It is the perfect size to fit inside of a cupboard.EASE OF USE: Pour water in the tray (2 silicone cups), fill the cups, close the lid, plug in. Set the timer for 12 minutes. Done. Want a fast, delicious and inexpensive way to make breakfast? This is the winning ticket!!!COOKING: This cooks the egg bites perfectly in 12 minutes and achieves the ideal texture (if using the correct ratio of CORE ingredients). NOTE: Do not plug the unit in until the silicone cups are filled and ready to go. Once they are ready, close the lid, plug it in and set the timer for 12 minutes.CLEAN UP: Wipe the top and bottom tray; clean the cups.—————————————————————————-UPDATE: 9-10-23I made two more batches using only egg whites this time.First batch: I used minced, cook turkey bacon and sautéed, minced red pepper for the fillings. The texture was %100 spot on with Starbucks egg bites.Second batch: I used both sautéed, minced onions and red pepper. Because I used 2 veggies this time, I need to increase the cornstarch to 1 Tablespoon because the texture was only about 95% close to Starbuck’s egg bites. This is because of moisture from using two veggies.NOTE: I also noticed that when using only egg whites, they do stick just a little to the cups. So what I did is after the 12 minutes, I unplugged the machine and left them sitting in it and used a small spatula around the edges of each cup and lifted them just a touch. Then I let them sit there for 10 minutes before plopping onto a plate. This worked perfectly!

    I love this machine!!!
I used to buy egg bites at Costco, and you only get eight egg bites for $10. Now I can make my own and they taste even better than the store-bought.The instructions say to cook the egg bites for 8 to 10 minutes. I found that to be quite accurate as long as you wait for the water to start boiling. The instructions say that you do not need to use nonstick spray for the cups, but said that you could use it. I didn’t use any spray, and they pop right out. If they don’t pop out then they might not be done yet. Or if you let them sit in the pan for a while, then they might be a little bit difficult to get out, so it’s better to take them out right away. But to be careful because those little cups are very hot! I just turn them upside down on a big plate and they pop out. Then I turn them over and put cheese so it can melt. The instructions say to only fill the cup 3/4 of the way up to allow room for expansion. I did this on my first batch, and they did not rise to the top of the cup like expected. So the next batch I filled them almost all the way to the top. They came out just fine, but the cheese that I put on top did kind of make contact with the upper plate and got cooked pretty well. I like that though.Keep in mind the more ingredients you put into the cup, the less egg you will fit. I found it best to put my ingredients in first and then pour the egg on top. The egg flows down and fills in all the gaps in between the ingredients. The instructions say to use two of the little cups to put water on the bottom, and then you place the cups on top of the water. You can see in the video how the steam rises up to help cook the eggs. The little cups are easy to clean by hand.I tend to drip little strings of cheese into the water and sometimes egg if it drops off of my cup as I pour. But that is still easy to clean up with paper towels when I’m done cooking.I put one in the freezer and ate it the next morning, and it was really good.So today I made another big bunch of them and froze half of them.I would love to get an extra set of cups so I can stage them to be ready when I pull one batch out.Just make sure you add water before you add the next load because the water does tend to evaporate.I can’t say enough how much I love this machine and how easy it is to use and how good the egg bites turn out. I thought they would be all spongy and gross, but they are absolutely wonderful!Do be careful when using this machine. It does get hot. Steam can burn you. The cups are hot when you remove them from the machine.I am really impressed with this machine.

I first purchased this for myself and loved it so much that I purchased another as a gift. Easy to clean, low maintenance, and adaptable. Nine egg bites are better than 6, you can always remove the silicone cups to make less. The egg bites do not come out soggy which was my concern.

Does exactly what it says it will do and more.
